The toothache, as well as some other problems, could appear when you least expect like in the middle of the night, for example. You may feel a lot of pain during that period of time but there is a way to make this experience less uncomfortable for you by doing several simple things. The cleanness of your teeth is certainly important, not only for their good looks but also for your health. There is nothing worse than the pain from a broken or damaged tooth, and sometimes the smallest problem could cause a lot of complications. The strange thing is that this usually happens at the worst possible time when you can’t contact your dentist and get an appointment. In this case, you will have to find a way to handle the problem yourself or at least try to limit the complications until you visit your dentist. Here are several tips which could help you:
- Toothache – The toothache could appear as a result of pretty much anything. From a simple thing like a lodged food to more serious problems. It is essential to react as fast as possible, otherwise the pain might get stronger. First, you can try to remove the lodged food using nothing more but a dental floss. In case of a swelling, you can make a compress with cold water which will help you feel better. There are also various painkillers and medicines which are offered, but it is better to avoid them. Instead, try to get to your dentist as fast as you can.
- Broken tooth – The teeth usually break or get chipped off while you eat. You have to be very careful because you could swallow the broken pieces without even noticing. The best thing you can do in a moment like this is to collect as much pieces as you can and take them with you when you visit your dentist. In case there is bleeding, you can put a little piece of gauze on the area and keep it there until the bleeding stops. If you feel pain or your mouth starts to swell, you can put a compress with cold water.
- Lost crown – The falling of a crown is a very common problem with a simple solution. You have to get to your dentists with the crown as soon as possible. If it is possible, you can try to put the crown back on your tooth, as you clean the inner area with toothpaste first. It is possible to start feeling pain, for which you can take care by applying clove oil on the area using a cotton swab. You can look for the oil in the drug store.
- Abscess – The abscess is a serious infection which could appear around each one of your teeth and easily spread to the others. The moment you notice that there is a little formation which looks like a pimple on your gum, you have to contact your dentists for an appointment immediately. Before that, you can prepare a solution of table salt and water and use it to rinse you mouth.
It is nice to be prepared in case of a dental emergency with one or more of your teeth. The best solution to such kind of problem, however, remains the visit to the dentist.
