Rugby 7′s: England secure Rio qualification
England Women have qualified on behalf of Team GB for the Olympics in Rio 2016, following a nail-biting 15-14 victory over USA at the Amsterdam Sevens.

England had lost to Australia 26-0 in the semi-final and when USA lost to Canada, the pair ended up in a winner takes all bronze medal match to determine who would secure the final guaranteed qualification spot for the Olympics. Full story via England Rugby

Athletics: Dina Asher Smith sets new British 100m record

Dina Asher Smith became the fastest British woman of all-time – and immediately vowed to go quicker. The 19-year old stormed to a national 100m record in 11.02 seconds at a World Challenge Meeting in Holland.

It erased Montell Douglas’s previous best of 11.05 secs from the record books and Asher-Smith believes it’s only a matter of time before she goes below 11 seconds. Full story via TeamGB

Canoeing: 2 gold and 2 bronze medals for TeamGB at world cup

In the final event of the weekend, Great Britain’s Lani Belcher and Louisa Sawers won gold and bronze in the K1 5000m marathon event, to take the team’s medal tally to two gold and three bronze and get the international season of to an encouraging start. Full story via gbcanoeing

Diving: Barrow and Couch win silver at World Cup
Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow continued their fine form at the Diving World Series with a superb silver medal on the opening day of the fifth leg in Windsor, Canada.

The pair put in one of their most consistent performances of the season in the 10m synchro to score a total of 325.92 and ease into second place ahead of the host nation’s Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion. Full story via TeamGB

Athletics: Jo Pavey overcomes illness to win London 10,000 race

European 10,000m champion Jo Pavey overcame illness to win the Bupa London 10,000 and claim the British 10km road title at the age of 41.

Pavey, who was sick overnight and only decided to run after a warm-up, won in 32 minutes 56 seconds, with Bedford 20-year-old Rebecca Murray second. Full story via the BBC

Tennis: Heather Watson reaches second round of French Open

Heather Watson is into the French Open second round after a battling 6-4 7-5 win over France’s Mathilde Johansson.

The British number one, 23, will now play American Sloane Stephens, who beat 2002 finalist Venus Williams 7-6 6-1. Full story via TeamGB
