I have come to see and believe that each of us has a specific “medicine”- that mix of qualities and gifts that come from our specific experiences, history, genetics, perspective. All of it coming together in a way that allows us to offer something unique and singular to the world.
Some of us do it through our work. Some of us do it just in the way we be and how we embody the moment. The ways we bring ourselves to the various relationships and choices of our imperfect lives.
One of my teachers told me recently that everything changes when you imagine the Divine as an artist, never creating the same thing twice. When I can imagine my self as a living breathing evolving work of art-that’s a healing and beautiful perspective.
I have started to look both at myself and at others through this lens. It’s a good lens. Different than rose-colored glasses because this is about seeing everything as essential. And about trusting divine order moving us to offer what is wholly ours.
For me this encourages a healing and creative narrative. The not so great ways that I often talk to myself, the times I just cannot stop the barrage of perfectionism, self-criticism, and questioning choices I’ve made…are quieted when I remember that all of these experiences and thoughts are a kind of brushstroke on the creation of me.
Knowing how to see the medicine in others, that particular mix of experiences and talents and qualities that only we can embody, is my work, my medicine, my practice. And this knowing came from a mix of experiences during my life, some of which I would not have chosen.
I am committed to this kind of sight. It nourishes me.
Over the last year I had some minor issues with my eyes- mostly about allergies and food sensitivities. But at times it was hard to see. And at times when I heard myself complaining about my eyes, or my glasses, or having any kind of vision issue, I knew I was meant to look at something else, symbolically beyond the physical. What am I having trouble seeing? What do I need to see more clearly? How can I support my sight and look at this situation or person or belief about myself differently?
I’ve recently begun offering something new, the Meet Your Medicine sessions. I can’t tell you how much I love this way of working or how honored I am to get to offer the information that comes through me during the 90 minutes. I will show you your self in ways that I suspect you have never heard and how to bring the power and medicine of you into your work, your relationships to create what’s yours. This is a beautiful and incredibly powerful session that will change the way you walk in the world. Find out more here.
With so much love to you~
